Automatic Door Lock

Home automation is becoming a reality in many households today. With more products on the market and various companies competing for business, these products are becoming more affordable and accessible than they have ever been.

Many of us recognize the possibilities for our own homes and how they can personally benefit us, but what about our loved ones who are more advanced in years? Perhaps one of the best uses for home automation technology is for keeping our elderly parents and grandparents safe and comfortable, especially if we do not live close to them.

In what ways can home automation benefit the elderly and people with disabilities?

Automated Doors and Locks

It is often difficult for the elderly, and people with disabilities affecting their mobility, to get to their doors in time to greet a guest. In many cases, moving is difficult and not worth the effort (or perhaps not even possible.) Many automated doors can read fingerprints, so loved ones who visit often can have their fingerprints saved.

When they arrive at the house, they can use this fingerprint memory to enter the home rather than forcing the homeowner to come to the door. In addition, automated locks are beneficial because they allow loved ones to check on the door to make sure it is locked at night or during regular times when the elderly person is away from home. This is done through devices such as a smartphone or tablet.
